2019 will be a strong year for the Vespa GTS. Performance of the new GTS 300 HPE increases by 12% to 23,8 PS and torque by 18% to 26 Nm. We already have the new model with Dr. Ing. Pulley Vario rolls can be tested and are convinced: they are the strongest factory vespa ever! Especially in the acceleration at traffic light starts shows the higher performance.

Also visually, a lot has changed. Most prominent are LED headlights and tail lights.

For the new season, the Vespa GTS series received some updates and improvements in terms of comfort, performance and styling. There are a total of five GTS models to choose from: Vespa GTS, GTS Touring, GTS Super, GTS Super Sport and the brand new Vespa GTS SuperTech. All models are available in two displacement classes.
Design
The unique style that characterizes the Vespa GTS can be found unabated in model year 2019. Unobtrusively, the lines of her "Big Body" were reworked by the designers with great feeling. New design elements are inconspicuous, harmoniously blending tradition and modernity.
LED technology in the headlights and tail light of the 2019er-GTS models contribute to more active safety. The leg shield shows with a new design. The "tie" with its fine slits now lies over the entire length of the shield. Also new are the shape of the handlebar / lamp cover, the upper mounting of the mirrors and the shape of the chrome-plated fin. A chrome ring surrounds the headlight. The air outlet slots of the radiator were given a honeycomb structure. In a new design, the lower rear covers also show up.

The lower side intake duct for engine ventilation is now rectangular instead of slotted as before. Also the tail light experienced a visual change.
The generation of 300er-hpe engines can be identified by new covers for the crankcase and silencer.
A new seat promises even more comfort. Seating comfort and ergonomics have been optimized with new styling and new upholstery and upholstery materials.
ABS, ASR or RISS, the automatic start-stop system
While all Vespa GTS models feature state-of-the-art 2 channel ABS, the 125er models also feature Piaggio's patented automatic "crack" start-stop system. This is not used in the 300er models, but the more powerful 300er variant - except GTS 300 Sei Giorni - comes standard with ASR / traction control.

Vespa MIA

Vespa MIA makes it possible to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth with the on-board electronics. The GTS SuperTech is the only model in the GTS series to feature a fully digital 4.3-inch TFT color display and Vespa MIA as standard.

The system offers numerous options that make the driving experience even more comfortable and entertaining. Vespa Mia was developed in conjunction with the Vespa app for connecting to iOS and Android smartphones.
Once the Vespa GTS SuperTech is connected through the app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, the TFT display displays information about incoming calls and messages. At the touch of a button on the right handle, calls can be accepted or rejected. Telephoning and playing music tracks from the playlist is possible via voice control. To make the best use of all these features, Vespa offers as accessories a comfortable open face helmet equipped with headphones and Bluetooth intercom.
The TFT display also acts as a navigation system. The navigation function, with direction indicators and pictograms, is implemented in the Vespa APP.

All other new Vespa models in the GTS series, which do not have a fully digital TFT display, can also be retrofitted with Vespa MIA. In addition to the infotainment and navigation functions, which are displayed in the small TFT display of the instrument cluster, the system offers numerous other data and information, such as the location of the vehicle, driving parameters and driving statistics that can be read on the smartphone.

The new 300 hpe engine

The new Piaggio 300 hpe engines, both in the Vespa GTS series as well as the new one Piaggio MP3 300 hpe and MP3 300 hpe sport are used, build on the proven 278 cm³ engine. The liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine "SOHC" is equipped with four-valve technology and electronic fuel injection. For 2019, the engine was extensively revised at Piaggio R&D and is called hpe in the latest series "High Performance Engine".

Numerous components of the engine have been optimized. Thermodynamic losses and friction losses have been reduced to a minimum. On new cylinder head with changed combustion chamber layout, larger channels and valves as well as a new piston guarantee highly efficient combustion with the hpe engine. The overhead camshaft - SOHC, which opens the valves via roller tappets, points new timings and changed radii off, which cause a faster opening of the valves. To improve the combustion process comes a new multi-jet injector for use. On larger inlet tract provides additional torque in the lower rpm range and ensures even, powerful and at the same time gentle power development. The spark is now over a Iridium spark plug produced with a long service life.

Also, the gearbox has been revised. The geometry and the material of the drive belt were improved. The new Cover of the CVT wearing at the Vespa GTS To reduce mechanical noise in addition a soundproofing insulation. Furthermore, a new, more stable clutch bell assembled.

The electronic engine control of the hpe engines takes over Marelli MIUG4 ECU latest generation.

Vespa GTS
Discreetly, the basic version in classic gray Dolomite, in Green Relax and Blue Energia.

Vespa GTS Touring
Ex factory, the GTS Touring is equipped with flyscreen and folding luggage rack at the rear. In the colors red Vignola and green Bosco, combined with an elegant seat, it shows on the glove compartment a "touring logo".

Vespa GTS Super
The GTS Super is immediately recognizable by its black rims and the diamond cut on the rim flanges. The seat in two-tone trim and light piping, the GTS Super is available in the colors White Innocence, Black Lucido, Red Passione and Yellow Estate.

GTS SuperSport
In rich, dull colors - in gray Titanio and blue Vivace - with sporty graphics enters the GTS SuperSport the stage. Black rims and the seat with two-tone cover and light piping are further features that emphasize their sporty look.

Vespa GTS SuperTech
Brand new in the GTS world, its name stands for sport and high tech. The Vespa GTS SuperTech is the first "Big Body" with fully digital cockpit in 4.3-inch TFT color quality.
From the cool black Vulcano and noble gray Materia stand out the matt black rims and the matte black lined slits of the tie. Skilfully made, the bench with sporty double stitching and valuable, two-tone cover. The yellow spring of the front shock absorber acts as an eye-catcher for itself.
