In this article we would like to provide an overview of the process and special features of one of our restorations. For our restorations we only use original parts from Piaggio Vespa or, if no longer available, OEM parts, i.e. spare parts in original equipment quality. If desired, a conversion with tuning parts is of course also possible.
The Vespa before the restoration
We have bought the V50 for 1500, - € in running order. This is a solid basis for further action. On closer inspection, however, damage and vehicle parts, which had to be replaced by original parts, only become apparent on the subsequent detailed pictures.
The floor panel
Above all, the floor panel was badly damaged after an obvious accident damage. So we decided to replace it with a new one.
The bodywork shown and the paint were by the Company Rolf Sprenger bodywork and paint shop carried out. All welds were professionally lathed (tinned). This additional effort - which is used especially in high-quality classic car restorations has the advantage that the body is more protected against corrosion and on the other less putty is applied. Especially on the running board usually by using too much spatula vibration cracks on the paint surface visible.
As a color, the original paint Rosso Corsa 806 was taken on a dilution basis. As a result, the paint finish is not too glossy as in the original and has the desired structure. (Light is reflected, but objects are not visible.) The fork, brake drums and brake anchor plate were painted in silver Aluminio Metallic 7415M.
The engine we have in the course of engine overhaul easily tuned adapted to the current traffic situation. Instead of the originally registered 40 km / h, the Vespa now drives about 100 km / h top. We have ensured that the entire conversion can also be reversed. (No milling or similar).

- Polini 130 ccm racing cylinder
- 24.24 Polini Evo CP carburetor
- BGM Pro sports air filter
- BGM Pro Superstrong clutch (reinforced)
- Faco ET3 banana
- Primavera ET3 fan guard
- Primary kit 2,56 translation
- Racing crankshaft Mazzucchelli Racing (long connecting rod, extended intake times)
- Reinforced shift spring
- Improved clutch cover (for lighter clutch cable)
- Spark plug TNT Racing (silicone, for particularly high speeds)
- 12 Volt without ignition contacts conversion:
- Alternator PK 50 XL without flashers (12V, very rarely built there only one year)
- Permanent
- 12V voltage regulator
- Customized wiring harness
- 12V bulbs
- 12V flasher unit
We have installed the original aluminum slot pipe, which must be pressed with a special crimping pliers. Although this is more complex than an accessory plastic chrome slot tube, but looks much better and is above all original.
Also, the kick bars are original and with the original rivets attached.
To get the patina, we did not polish the chrome ring of the speedometer.
A special accent was set with the whitewall tires.
The Monositzbank was from the Saddler Robert Mischewski Professional new with red ornamental lining and piping.

Please note: The stated costs are very high which of course may vary depending on the restoration vehicle. In particular, the conversion to 130 ccm cylinder, 12V ignition system and 24er carburetor are relatively expensive. This concerns the spare part costs as well as the necessary working time for tuning, harness rebuilding etc
Of course it is depending on the desire and object already possible to obtain a restored vehicle for 3000-4000 €.
